Saturday
23rd February 2008
following the AGM at
5:30 pm
in the Housman Room, University College, Gower Street, WC1
1. Overture in the Italian Style in D D.590 Franz Schubert
2. Spring from “The Seasons” Joseph Haydn
| Orchestration | woodwind 2 Fl, 2 Ob, 2 Cl (in Bb and A) , 2 Fg |
| brass 2 Hn (in D and Bb in basso), 2 Tr (in D and C) | |
| timps | |
| strings | |
| continuo (for “Spring”) harpsichord and cello |
The Introduction to “Spring” also has three trombones (2 alto and one bass) but I think we will survive perfectly well without those if I prepare an extra part for the horns.
My aim is to rehearse from 2 o’clock with a schedule which I hope will run pretty close to this to keep hanging around to a minimum for the maximum number of people:
2:00
strings
2:45 + woodwind
3:15 break
3:30 + vocal soloists and horns
4:00 choir with full
orchestra
c 4:45 tea
Lyn is kindly rehearsing the choir from 2.00 pm in another room and conducting the unaccompanied choral items. The idea is for the choir to run these in the concert venue from 3.15 while the orchestra has a break and then to take their break before the full rehearsal at 4 o’clock.
Please let me know if you have any queries or I have forgotten something you need to be aware of.
I much look forward to seeing you on Saturday afternoon. Don’t forget that there is a party afterwards.
Peter Bullett
